Heartsaver First Aid

This course covers first aid basics for the most common first aid emergencies, including how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving skills.

Heartsaver CPR AED

The skills learned in this course will help you recognize cardiac arrest, get emergency care on the way quickly, and help a person until EMS arrives.

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED

This course is designed to prepare you to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

Heartsaver Pediatric

This course teaches students information needed to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.

Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens

This course teaches employees how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. This course is designed to meet OSHA requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction.

BLS – Basic Life Support

Basic Life Support training reinforces healthcare professionals’ understanding of the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, basic steps of performing CPR, relieving choking, and using an AED; and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival. Athens CPR offers the BLS course in two variations, each meeting healthcare employers requirements.

BLS – Instructor Led Training

The BLS Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics.

HeartCode BLS

HeartCode BLS is the AHA’s BLS blended learning delivery method. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on session.

Family and Friends CPR

Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a CPR course completion card to meet a job requirement. This course is ideal for community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save a life.

Becoming an AHA Instructor

Just follow these steps to become an AHA Instructor at Athens CPR.

  1. Have a current PROVIDER card in the discipline (i.e., ACLS, BLS, PALS, Heartsaver) you wish to teach.
  2. Enroll in the scheduled Instructor Course you desire.
  3. Join the AHA Instructor Network  www.ahainstructornetwork.org
  4. Order your Instructor Course material. You must bring this material with you to the Instructor Course. You can order your Instructor Material from www.AthensCPR.com or the American Heart Association.
  5. Complete the Online Instructor Essentials Course for the Instructor level you need.
    (Once you register for an Instructor Course at Athens CPR, we will send you a link to complete the Online Essentials Course for the discipline you registered for. This is included in your Instructor Course Tuition.)
  6. Attend and successfully complete the Classroom Portion of the Instructor Course.
  7. Be monitored teaching your first course within 6 calendar months of completing your Instructor Course. Your provider certification must be valid on the date your monitoring is completed. Monitoring must be completed by a TC Faculty Member or TC designee and the Instructor Candidate is responsible for coordinating / scheduling with the Monitor. A list of approved monitors will be provided at the classroom portion of your Instructor Course.

There are two options available for your instructor monitoring.

  1. Teach a segment at our facility during one of our normal course offerings. There is a fee of $25 for this monitoring session
  2. Organize and teach a course on you own at a location of your choice within 75 miles of Athens, GA. An AHA approved monitor will attend and conduct your monitoring session. The is a fee of $75 for this monitoring session.
